There has been a lot of transfer talk about players joining Manchester United in the summer. This has been fuelled by the fact United signed Shaw and Herrera last week taking our transfer spend to almost £60 million already. Another player looking set to join the Reds is Arturo Vidal from Juventus. The no nonsense midfielder was a star for Chile at the World Cup in Brazil and has been a key figure in the side which helped Juventus win Serie A.
Louis Van Gaal has made Vidal one of his top transfer targets and wants the 27 year old to join and sign a 4 year contract.
In order to sign Vidal it’s thought Juventus want £35 million to sell the player. Vidal himself has said that Champions League football is vital if he’s to leave the Turin club. As a result, it may take a monthly salary of £250,000 to tempt Vidal to Manchester.
Chile has recently left the World Cup on penalties to the hosts Brazil. It’s thought any deal for Vidal will be concluded within the coming weeks as his agents have already been at Old Trafford to discuss transfer terms.
Van Gaal is rebuilding and reshaping the United team to make us competitive in the coming season. With no European football next term he will have a relatively flexible calendar to build the team. If his tactical ability was every under question, he proved his quality last night when Holland took on Mexico. Mexico led the game and Van Gaal chose to take of their star striker and Man United goalscorer Van Persie and rearrange the team. With only 2 minutes of normal time left Holland equalised. Then, deep in injury time Holland won a penalty to go through to the Quarter Finals.
Well done Louis Van Gaal and the Dutch team.
